Gunaratne attempted to play an aggressive shot but misjudged the delivery, sending the ball soaring high into the air. As it ascended, all eyes turned to Yadav, who was positioned at mid-on. With remarkable anticipation and speed, she sprinted towards the ball, her eyes locked onto it as it descended.

In a breathtaking display of agility, Yadav leaped into the air and executed a full-length dive, extending her right hand to grasp the ball just before it hit the ground. The catch not only dismissed Gunaratne for a duck but also set a challenging tone for Sri Lanka’s innings. India posted a commanding total of 172/3 , thanks to solid performances from key players like Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Harmanpreet Kaur. Mandhana scored a brisk 56 runs off 40 balls, while Verma contributed significantly with a quickfire 45 off just 30 deliveries. The Indian captain Harmanpret Kaur then took charge, scoring an unbeaten 52 off just 27 balls.

In response, Sri Lanka struggled throughout their innings and eventually succumbed to pressure, bowled out for a mere 90 runs in 19.5 overs. This decisive victory marked India’s second win in three matches of the tournament, keeping their hopes alive for progressing to the semi-finals.
