Perth Scorchers Women, opting to bat first, posted a competitive 170/5 in their 20 overs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Star opener Beth Mooney was the standout performer, smashing an unbeaten 97 off 64 balls, laced with 11 boundaries. Her innings anchored the Scorchers’ innings, with Sophie Devine providing valuable support through a 44-run knock off 33 deliveries.
However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to contribute significantly. Sydney Thunder’s bowlers were led by Shabnim Ismail and Taneale Peschel, who claimed two and three wickets respectively. Ismail was particularly economical, conceding just 21 runs in her four-over spell.

Georgia Voll’s explosive knock steals the show
Chasing 171, Sydney Thunder finished with 173/3 in 19 overs, winning the game by 7 wickets. Voll was the architect of the chase, crafting a magnificent unbeaten 97 off just 56 balls. Her innings, studded with 13 fours and a six, ensured Thunder stayed ahead of the required run rate throughout the chase.
Chamari Athapaththu and Phoebe Litchfield contributed with small cameos, while Heather Knight added 28 runs off 24 balls to keep the momentum in Thunder’s favor. Voll’s masterclass overshadowed an otherwise solid bowling performance from Sophie Devine and Amy Edgar, who managed to pick up a wicket each.
