Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj dismissed Australian batter Travis Head‘s claims of a cordial exchange during the second Test at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday. Siraj revealed that Head was untruthful when he stated that all he had said to the bowler was “well-bowled.”

Travis Head’s explosive innings and fiery exchange with Mohammed Siraj

Head showcased an exceptional performance, hammering 140 runs off just 141 balls with 17 boundaries and four towering sixes. His knock placed Australia in a commanding position and tested the resilience of the Indian bowlers. His blistering innings ended when Siraj bowled him with a stunning yorker. Following the dismissal, Siraj celebrated aggressively, leading to a tense verbal exchange between the two.

In a post-innings interaction, Head accused Siraj of overstepping during the celebrations. He said: “I jokingly said ‘well-bowled,’ and he pointed me to the sheds. It was surprising considering there wasn’t any provocation earlier in the game.”

Siraj sets the record straight

Responding to the comments before Day 3, Siraj provided his version of events. He stated that Head’s accusations were baseless and insisted the Australian batter had initiated the confrontation with abusive language.

“I was enjoying bowling to him because he batted brilliantly. But when a batter hits you for a six on a good ball, it hurts, and it fires you up. After dismissing him, I celebrated, and then he abused me,” Siraj told Star Sports.

“What he said in the press conference was a lie. He didn’t say ‘well-bowled.’ We respect all players because cricket is a gentleman’s game. His actions were wrong, and I didn’t appreciate it,” he added.
