The Big Cricket League 2024 is steadily gaining the momentum with unprecedented scenes at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat. Naman Ojha was the man running the show for the MP Tigers as star wicket-keeper batter scored an emphatic century against the Northern Challengers. With Ojha’s ton and crucial contributions from Pawan Negi and Saumil Das in death overs, MP Tigers put up 235 runs on the board for the Northern Challengers to chase. In the end, MP Tigers emerged victorious against Shikhar Dhawan led men as they fell 12 runs short of the target.
A memorable performance from Naman Ojha
Ojha opened with Saket Sharma for the MP Tigers to put up a solid 151 runs partnership for the team and helped the MP Tigers reach an advantageous position in the match. Ojha, with the help of 8 sixes and 7 boundaries scored 102 runs off just 55 balls and remained not out for the MP Tigers. Saket Sharma, too, played a crucial supporting role for Ojha and made 78 runs. The opening pair helped MP Tigers reach a mammoth 235 runs in their 20 overs.

It was a match to forget for Northern Challengers bowlers as Anureet Singh and Siddharth Kaul gave away 52 and 50 runs respectively. Northern Challengers failed to come up with a plan against Ojha who rained havoc on their bowling line-up, scoring runs with a strike rate of 185.5. Kundan Kumar was the only successful bowler for the Northern Challengers who managed to pick 3 wickets for his team in quick succession.
MP Tigers retain the top spot
While the Northern Challengers batting line-up did put up a fight against MP Tigers, scoring 235 runs proved to be too much for them. In the end, the Dhawan led team were 12 runs short of the target and MP Tigers won their third consecutive match of the season to retain the top spot in the BCL 2024. MP Tigers are currently level on points with Mumbai Marines but have a better net run rate. MP Tigers are set to face Southern Spartans and Mumbai Marines. Both fixtures are crucial for Yusuf Pathan led teams’ quest to reserve a place in the semi-finals.
