The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has addressed recent media reports suggesting that the Indian cricket team might refuse to sport jerseys featuring the name of the host nation, Pakistan, for the Champions Trophy 2025. These reports had sparked widespread speculation and concern regarding the Indian team’s stance on the upcoming tournament.
The controversy over alleged refusal to display Pakistan’s name
Notably, the reports suggested that the BCCI was unwilling to display the host nation’s name due to ongoing political tensions between the two countries. This sparked a sharp response from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which strongly criticized the BCCI’s stance. The PCB official had accused the BCCI of intertwining politics with sports, stating that such actions would only harm the spirit of the game and create unnecessary divisions within the cricketing community.
