Cricket South Africa (CSA), on Monday, announced their men’s squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The return of Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi

The fast-bowling duo of Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi have made a much-anticipated return to the national team for the marquee tournament after recovering from injuries. Nortje had been sidelined with a broken toe, while Ngidi missed the home season due to a groin injury.

The 15-man squad, led by Temba Bavuma, features ten players who represented South Africa in the 2023 ODI World Cup semi-finals. Newcomers Ryan Rickelton, Wiaan Mulder and Tony de Zorzi are set to make their debut in the ICC event.

South Africa’s status in Champions Trophy 2025

South Africa, placed in Group B, kick off their campaign against Afghanistan in Karachi on February 21, followed by matches against Australia in Rawalpindi on February 25 and England on March 1. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

The tournament, scheduled to be played in Pakistan and the UAE from February 19, marks the Champions Trophy’s return after an eight-year hiatus. Pakistan, the defending champions, last won the trophy in 2017 by defeating India in the final at The Oval, London.

Temba Bavuma (captain), Tony de Zorzi, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram (vice-captain), David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Rassie van der Dussen, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tabraiz Shamsi.
