The dawn of 2025 brings a momentous achievement for Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has etched his name in cricketing history by attaining the highest-ever rating points for an Indian bowler in the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings.

Jasprit Bumrah breaks Ravichandran Ashwin’s record

Bumrah’s exceptional nine-wicket haul in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Melbourne propelled him to an impressive 907 rating points, surpassing the previous Indian best of 904, held jointly by Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin.

This accomplishment places Bumrah at the 17th position on the all-time ICC Test Bowling Rankings, a spot he shares with England’s legendary spinner Derek Underwood. The all-time leaderboard continues to be dominated by English greats Sydney Barnes (932 points) and George Lohmann (931 points), with icons like Imran Khan (922) and Muttiah Muralitharan (920) following close behind.

Pat Cummins gains significant points

Australian captain Pat Cummins also made significant strides in the rankings following his stellar performance in the Boxing Day Test against India. Cummins, with 914 points, is now tied for fifth on the all-time list alongside Glenn McGrath. Additionally, his batting contributions in Melbourne elevated him to a career-best third position in the all-rounder rankings and 97th among batters.

Aiden Markram‘s standout performances elevated him to 16th, while Zimbabwe’s Sean Williams reached 19th, marking the highest ranking for a Zimbabwean batter since 2014.
