The news of engagement between Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Member of Parliament (MP) Priya Saroj has spread like a wildfire and has emerged as the major talking point in the cricketing community. The possible wedlock between the two made headlines across the country. However, the truth has been far from the entire buzz.
Amidst the ongoing saga of events which developed on Friday (January 17), Priya’s father Tufani Saroj has cleared the air and revealed the truth behind the reported engagement between Rinku and Priya.

Priya’s father revealed that Rinku’s family has presented a marriage proposal, which is being given serious consideration. Saroj mentioned that the proposal was discussed with Rinku’s elder son-in-law, who currently holds the position of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in Aligarh. However, neither Rinku nor Priya has officially confirmed these details as of yet.
Tufani Saroj is currently a Member of Legislative Assembly in Uttar Pradesh from Kerakat assembly constituency and has served as an MP of Saidpur and Machhlishahr constituency for three terms from 1999 to 2014.

Rinku Singh’s cricketing career
Rinku first rose to prominence through his impressive displays in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he has been a key player for his franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Singh is primarily a middle-order batter, showcasing his ability to accelerate innings in the death overs.
His standout moment came during the 2023 IPL season when he hit five consecutive sixes in a crucial match, earning him widespread recognition. Before making his IPL debut, Rinku represented UP in domestic cricket, where he built a solid reputation with his performances in both List A and T20 formats.
His impressive display in the IPL earned him a maiden call-up for India in August 2023 against Ireland at Dublin. The 27-year-old played his first ODI match in December of the same year against South Africa.
