One such rare occasion happened during the finals of the 14th edition of BBL between Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder when Hurricanes opener aced an emphatic century off just 39 balls to achieve the joint fastest century in BBL history. The ace BBL batter kept the hopes of his side Hobart Hurricanes alive during the 2016/17 BBL season with his power packed 114-run knock off 52 balls. The wicket-keeper batter crucially stormed a 47 ball century to record the 5th fastest century in BBL history and was declared the Player of the Match in a do-or-die clash for the Hurricanes.

The seasoned T20 league batter from England managed to dominate Hobart Hurricanes during the 2012 season to script history by scoring the fastest ton of the time off just 44 balls. The hundred from Melbourne Stars batter was power packed with 9 sixes and 8 boundaries.

Australia’s seasoned batter Glenn Maxwell aced a blazing 154 off just 64 balls which paved the way for Melbourne Stars to reach a mammoth 273/2, the highest total in BBL history. Maxwell became the first player to score 150 runs in a single innings during the course of his batting display against Hurricanes. The explosive batter reached a half-century mark off just 20 balls and brought up his century in just 41 balls. Maxwell struck 22 boundaries and 4 sixes in a remarkable innings for his BBL side.

(2) Craig Simmons (Perth Scorchers):

During the BBL clash between Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers in the 2014 edition of the tournament, Scorchers’ star opener Craig Simmons rattled the Strikers’ bowling effort to amass the fastest ton in BBL history off just 39 balls with 8 fours and 8 sixes. The storming knock from Simmons enabled Scorchers to reach a total of 203 runs at a loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. The gigantic total enabled Scorchers to secure a thrilling 5-run win over Strikers in the match.

The stage was all set for an action-packed contest between Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder in the finals of the 14th edition of the prestigious competition. After Thunder reached a total of 182/7 in 20 overs, Hurricanes opener Owen stormed the Ninja Stadium to score a 39-ball century with the help of 11 towering sixes and 6 boundaries. The Hurricanes opener wreaked carnage on Thunder’s bowling unit when it mattered the most. Through his impeccable innings, he became the only second player to score a ton in a final after Jake Weatherald.
