The International LeagueT20 (ILT20) action is coming to its absolute best with players giving their all on the field to assert dominance over other teams. Something of a similar sort happened at the clash between Gulf Giants and Desert Vipers as Chris Jordan in his maiden appearance for his ILT20 franchise Giants took a stunning catch to get rid of Alex Hales and put an end to the threat from the opening batter.
Chris Jordan’s one-handed heroics marks the end to Alex Hales’ innings
The tipping point of Hales’s innings occurred during the 3rd over of the match when impact player Hales appeared set on the crease with 9 runs off 8 balls and had already scored 2 boundaries in his innings. On the 4th delivery of Mark Adair’s over, he decided to play it bag and swung the ball with full-force but failed to middle the bowl and played the shot with the toe of the bat instead. The ball sailed towards mid-on and was going past Jordan before he dived behind and clinched the ball with one-hand thus marking an end to Hales’ brief run in the match.
The catch took an impact on the lower body of Jordan as he landed back on foot due to which he could not celebrate the catch but even the bowler was astounded with the fielding effort of the 36-year-old who was playing his first match of the season for Giants after being part of the title-winning Hobart Hurricanes squad in the Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL).

Jordan’s resounding effort failed to keep Giants afloat in the match
Vipers won the toss at the Dubai International Stadium and elected to bowl first. Due to a disciplined bowling effort, they restricted Giants on 129/8 in 20 overs. Tom Curran was the star of the Giants’ innings with a 64-run knock off 34 balls. However, Vipers dominated with the bowl with pacer Blessing Muzarabani clinching 3 wickets for 25 runs in his 4 overs.
The Vipers in response, achieved the total in 19 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Jordan clinched the crucial wicket of Dan Lawrence and took the scintillating catch but his efforts fell short to sail his team through against Vipers who had a remarkable day with the bat and bowl. Max Holden played an emphatic 70-run knock off 54 balls to ensure Vipers clinch 2 points against Giants and emerge as the league leaders in this year’s points table for the time being.
