Virat Kohli is known for his intensity on the pitch and a charming personality. However, time and again the former Indian skipper has shown that he is a humble person at heart who loves helping others out. The cricketing world saw a glimpse of the other side of Kohli as a heartwarming conversation between him and a kid is going viral on social media.

Virat Kohli gives a kid the mantra to play for India

The 36-year-old recently joined the Delhi squad after a span of 12 years to play for a Ranji Trophy match against Railways. During the practice session, a local resident who is also a cricket fan and former teammate of Kohli in age-group cricket brought his son to observe Kohli’s batting technique in the nets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

After the batting practice, the young Kabir approached the star Indian batter and asked for his advice on how to become an Indian cricketer. The former Indian captain’s response to the kid’s question was nothing short of special.

“A lot of hard work. Your father should not tell you to practice or train. You should yourself say every morning that you want to go to practice. If someone practices for an hour, you do it for two hours. That is the only way,” Kohli remarked.

The ace Indian batter further talked about the intense competition in modern day cricket and the way a player can potentially outshine others and feature in the Indian squad.

“If someone scores a 50, you score a 100, and if someone scores a 100, you score a 200. Jo benchmark hai us se double (Whatever the benchmark is, you should do double of it).” the 36-year-old further said.

Kohli confirmed his availability for the Ranji Trophy clash against the Railways, joining the long line of Indian players who have joined their respective domestic teams for the Ranji Trophy fixtures.
