Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has unveiled their squads for the upcoming multi-format series against Ireland, showcasing a blend of seasoned players and promising newcomers. The series encompasses one Test match, three One Day Internationals (ODIs), and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), aiming to bolster Zimbabwe’s cricketing prowess at home.
Test Squad: A mix of experience and youth
The Test squad for the one-off match scheduled from February 06-10, 2025, at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, includes stalwarts like Craig Ervine, Brian Bennett, Sean Williams and Blessing Muzarabani. Notably, the Test squad features two uncapped players in the form of leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa and top-order batter Nicholas Welch. This selection strategy highlights Zimbabwe’s intent to build for the future while relying on the experience of their senior players.

A couple of changes in the ODI unit
Zimbabwe made two changes to their ODI squad, bringing in Wessly Madhevere and Nyasha Mayavo to replace Myers and Joylord Gumbie. However, Myers retained his spot in the T20I squad, while Faraz Akram and Takudzwanashe Kaitano were not selected.

A strong T20I outfit
For the T20I series, which kicks off on February 22, Sikandar Raza will be back to lead the team. He was not selected for the Test team due to his commitments for franchise cricket. Raza is currently representing Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 2025. The other familiar names in the T20I unit are Bennett, Ryan Burl, Johnathan Campbell, Richard Ngarava and Wellington Masakadza.
