The much-anticipated Champions Trophy 2025 is set to begin on February 19, with hosts Pakistan facing New Zealand in the tournament opener at Karachi. The event will conclude with the final on March 9, bringing together the top ODI teams in a battle for supremacy.

How were the Teams selected?

A total of eight teams will compete in the Champions Trophy 2025. As the host nation, Pakistan secured automatic qualification. The remaining seven teams were determined based on their standings in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Unfortunately, Sri Lanka and the Netherlands, who finished ninth and tenth in the tournament, failed to qualify.

Reserve days for Knockout matches?

To ensure a fair contest, both semi-finals and the final will have a reserve day. However, every effort will be made to complete the matches on their originally scheduled dates. If a game is disrupted due to weather or any other reason, it will resume from the same point on the reserve day.

DLS rules for Knockout games

A crucial change for knockout matches is that the team batting second must play at least 25 overs for the DLS method to determine a result. This is different from the group stage, where the minimum overs required for a result is 20.

What happens in case of a washout?

If a semi-final ends without a result due to bad weather, the team that finished higher in the group stage will advance to the final. In the final, if the match is completely washed out, the trophy will be shared between the two finalists.

With exciting fixtures, a competitive lineup, and clear regulations, the Champions Trophy 2025 promises to be a thrilling tournament for cricket fans worldwide.
