In a stunning display of batting prowess, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra has etched his name into cricket history by breaking Kane Williamson’s record for the most centuries by a Kiwi player in ICC ODI events. This remarkable achievement came during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where Ravindra scored a match-winning century against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Monday, February 24.

Rachin Ravindra’s record-breaking knock

Ravindra’s century was not just a personal milestone but a crucial performance that helped New Zealand secure a five-wicket victory over Bangladesh. Chasing a target of 237 runs, New Zealand faced early setbacks, losing Will Young and Kane Williamson. However, Ravindra stepped up, forming a pivotal partnership with Tom Latham. Together, they put on 129 runs for the fourth wicket, stabilizing the innings and setting the stage for a successful chase.

Ravindra’s kncok of 112 runs in just 105 balls included 12 fours and a six, showcasing his ability to dominate the opposition’s bowling attack. His century was the fourth in ICC ODI events, surpassing Williamson and Nathan Astle, who have three centuries each in such tournaments.

Rachin Ravindra breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s record

In addition to surpassing Williamson, Ravindra also broke a long-standing record held by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. At the age of 25, Ravindra has scored four centuries in ICC ODI events, eclipsing Tendulkar’s record of three centuries at the same age. Tendulkar achieved his three centuries in 16 innings, while Ravindra reached this milestone in just 11 innings, highlighting his exceptional form and efficiency in major tournaments.
