Wasim Akram is widely regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers in the history of cricket. Known as the “Sultan of Swing,” Akram played a crucial role in Pakistan’s triumph in the 1992 Cricket World Cup and was instrumental in shaping Pakistan’s pace attack for over a decade. His ability to swing the ball both ways, combined with his lethal yorkers, made him a nightmare for batters across all formats. With over 900 international wickets, Akram’s legacy in world cricket remains unparalleled, and he continues to be a benchmark for aspiring fast bowlers.

Rashid Latif names an Afghan star greater than Wasim Akram

In a bold statement, former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has drawn comparisons between Akram and Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan. Latif went on to say that Rashid’s stature in the game is even greater than that of Akram, acknowledging the leg-spinner’s impact on world cricket despite Afghanistan being a relatively new force in the sport.

“He is greater than Wasim Akram. I am sorry to say, but Rashid’s stature is bigger. I have only one piece of advice for Rashid Khan—improve your Test team and play more Test matches against Pakistan,” said Latif as quoted by India Today.

Notably, Rashid has been Afghanistan’s most prominent cricketer, leading the team with his exceptional bowling skills. His ability to deliver match-winning performances in T20 leagues across the world and his dominance in white-ball cricket have made him one of the most sought-after players in modern cricket.
