The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is just around the corner, with the tournament set to kick off on February 19. This prestigious event, featuring eight of the world’s top cricketing nations, promises to deliver exciting matches and showcase some of the best talent in the sport.

Format for the Champions Trophy 2025

Each team will face every other team in its group once. Following the group stage, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

If India secures a semi-final spot, their match will take place in Dubai on March 4, regardless of their ranking in the group. Likewise, if Pakistan qualifies, their semi-final will be held in Lahore on March 5.

The final is scheduled for March 9 in Lahore, unless India reaches the title clash. In that case, the match will be relocated to Dubai.

As teams prepare for battle, let’s take a closer look at the top-ranked ODI players from each participating nation:

Afghanistan

Afghanistan enters the tournament with a strong lineup, highlighted by Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who is currently ranked 8th among batters. The team’s bowling attack is spearheaded by Rashid Khan, ranked 1st, while Mohammad Nabi holds the top spot as the 1st ranked all-rounder.

Australia

Australia boasts a formidable squad, with Travis Head leading as the 12th ranked batter. The bowling department features Adam Zampa, ranked 7th, and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who sits at 8th.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh’s hopes hinge on Najmul Hossain Shanto, their top batter at 28th. The bowling prowess is represented by Mehidy Hasan, who is ranked 27th, while all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz shines with a ranking of 4th.

England

England’s squad includes notable players like captain Jos Buttler, ranked 38th among batters. Their bowling strength comes from Adil Rashid, who is ranked 25th and also serves as an all-rounder, holding the 19th position.

India

India’s challenge will be led by star batter Shubman Gill, currently ranked 2nd. The bowling lineup features Kuldeep Yadav at 5th, while all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja holds the 10th position.

New Zealand

New Zealand’s top performer is batter Daryl Mitchell, who ranks 7th. The bowling attack is led by Matt Henry, sitting at 6th, and all-rounder Mitchell Santner, also ranked at 7th.

Pakistan

As hosts and defending champions, Pakistan have a stellar lineup with captain Babar Azam leading as the world’s top-ranked batter (1st). Their bowling strength is showcased by Shaheen Shah Afridi, who ranks 4th, and he also features as an all-rounder at rank 18.

South Africa

South Africa’s squad includes batter Heinrich Klaasen, currently ranked 5th. Their bowling unit features star pacer Kagiso Rabada, who holds the rank of 18th, while all-rounder Marco Jansen sits at rank 17.
