Opting to bat first, Bangladesh suffered an early collapse as they lost five wickets inside the powerplay. However, middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy led the fightback with a brilliant century. His 154-run stand with Jake Ali for the sixth wicket helped Bangladesh recover from a precarious position. Despite Hridoy’s heroic effort, the Bangla Tigers could only manage 228 runs before getting bowled out. India were handed a target of 229 to chase in their tournament opener.
