Mithila Vinod, a rising star in Indian women’s cricket and a member of the U19 World Cup-winning team, has revealed that Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry has been her cricketing idol since childhood.
The 19-year-old from Karnataka also admires Hardik Pandya and sees similarities in their playing styles.
Mithila was born on September 2, 2005. She is a right-handed batter and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. Mithila has represented India B Women Under-19, India C Women Under-19 and Hubli Tigers Women.
Mithila Vinod’s journey to the Under-19 T20 World Cup
During a recent interview with India Today, she spill beans on her cricketing journey after being overlooked for the 2023 Women’s U19 T20 World Cup. “From the moment I didn’t get picked then, it was a dream for me to picture myself here in this edition, lifting the trophy,” said Mithila.
When asked about the player she admires for power-hitting, the U19 World Cup-winning star named Hardik Pandya as her inspiration. “I find my playing style very similar to Hardik Pandya. If you see, he’s also a middle-order batter, a hard hitter of the ball with a high strike rate. I enjoy batting at that pace as well.”

Dreams of playing in the WPL
When quizzed about her cricketing idol since childhood, Mithila said: “I have looked up a lot to Ellyse Perry since I started playing because she is someone you can rely on with both the ball and the bat. That’s the kind of player I want to be.”
Mithila hasn’t made her debut with the senior team yet and didn’t have a franchise to represent in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, but she loves RCB from the time she started watching franchise cricket.
“To be honest, playing for any WPL team would be great, but if I have to choose, I would love to play for RCB. I’ve always loved RCB from the time I started watching IPL itself, and I also attended the trials last year. I really like the players there, the staff, and the way they function. Playing for them would be great,” Mithila added further.
