Riyan Parag, the young Indian cricketer, recently spoke out about the controversy surrounding his viral YouTube search history. The issue erupted when Parag, during a live stream, unintentionally displayed his search history, which reportedly included explicit content related to Bollywood actresses Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan. The incident quickly gained traction on social media, leading to widespread trolling and criticism.
Riyan Parag clarifies his stance
Addressing the controversy, Parag clarified that the incident took place before the IPL 2024 season while he was on a Discord call with his streaming team. He alleged that a member of his team attempted to set him up by leaking this information, but it was initially taken down. However, after his impressive IPL 2024 campaign, the controversy resurfaced and was blown out of proportion.
“I finished the IPL, we were in Chennai, finished the match, got on a Discord call with my streaming team, and it got publicised now, but it happened before the IPL. One of the people in my Discord team tried to set me up before the IPL, but that got taken down very quickly. But then after the IPL, the hype was there, and I had a good season,” Parag explained during an interview with City1016 Radio station.

Staying focused amid backlash
Despite the online scrutiny, Parag remained focused on his cricketing journey. His IPL 2024 performance for Rajasthan Royals was noteworthy, as he amassed 573 runs in 14 innings, cementing his place as a key performer. His dedication paid off when he became the first cricketer from Assam to earn an India cap in July 2024.
Parag further stated that he chose not to clarify the issue publicly, believing that people wouldn’t understand his side of the story. He said: “I didn’t think it was good enough a reason for me to go out publicly and clarify everything, and no one would understand.”
