Something of a similar kind was seen between a young-at-heart England fan and Afghanistan’s star player Gulbadin Naib. The two exchanged some flexes with Naib getting the last laugh out of the fan.

The incident occurred as the match turned to its most interesting phase with Jamie Overton and Jofra Archer on the crease for England after Afghanistan put together a total of 325 for them to chase. The target appeared within the reach of the English batters.
Just then, the attention panned towards an England fan who imitated the flex from Naib in an attempt to mock him for his flex. England fans were rejoicing at this point as the target looked within their grabs. However, the match turned on its head with Overton’s dismissal followed by a disciplined bowling display from Afghanistan’s bowling unit.

England out of the Champions Trophy 2025
England’s Champions Trophy campaign concluded with an eight-run defeat to Afghanistan, marking their first group-stage exit since 2006. Despite Joe Root‘s 120-run effort, the team faltered, with the lower order unable to secure the remaining runs. Captain Jos Buttler acknowledged the team’s missed opportunities and praised Afghanistan’s performance. This defeat raises questions about Butler’s leadership, as England have lost nine of their ten white-ball games this year.
Afghanistan’s victory was highlighted by Ibrahim Zadran‘s record-breaking 177 from 146 balls and Azmatullah Omarzai‘s five-wicket haul. Before their disappointing loss against Afghanistan, England were defeated by Australia even after they scored a mammoth total of 351 runs for the arch-rivals to chase. Josh Inglis and Alex Carey put together a solid performance for the Aussies with the bat and chased down the total with 15 balls to spare.
