Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have stormed into the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 with a flawless start, showcasing their dominance both on and off the field. The Smriti Mandhana-led side has won both of their opening matches, including a record-breaking chase of 202 runs against Gujarat Giants (GG) in the tournament opener on February 14. Their second triumph came against Delhi Capitals (DC), further solidifying their position at the top of the leaderboard with an impressive Net Run Rate (NRR). However, while RCB’s on-field performances have made headlines, it was a heartwarming off-field moment that truly captured everyone’s attention.

A special day for young RCB fan Bhavya Thakkar

Cricket is more than just a game – it’s about passion, dreams, and the moments that make lifelong memories. One such magical moment unfolded recently when young RCB fan Bhavya Thakkar got the opportunity of a lifetime to meet his idol, Ellyse Perry, during a training session in Vadodara.

A video shared by RCB on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle perfectly captured Bhavya’s overwhelming excitement and pure joy. From the very first frame, the young fan’s enthusiasm was infectious as he eagerly asked, “Ellyse Perry has come?,” His eyes sparkled with anticipation as he waited for a chance to meet the Australian all-rounder, whom he had admired for so long.

A dream come true: Meeting Ellyse Perry

As soon as Perry arrived, Bhavya couldn’t contain his excitement. His beaming smile said it all as he confidently approached her and said, “I am a big fan of you and Smriti (Mandhana) Didi!” Hearing his heartfelt words, Perry flashed a warm and affectionate smile before replying, “Smriti, she’s the best,” The mutual admiration between the two RCB stars was evident, and it made the moment even more special for the young fan.

But the surprises didn’t end there. Bhavya also had the chance to interact with RCB all-rounder Kanika Ahuja, who joined in to pose for a picture alongside him and Perry, he further got a signed bat. The little fan stood proudly between the two cricketing stars, a memory that he would cherish forever.

A moment of celebration

Bhavya’s joy reached another level when he was given the chance to bowl to RCB head coach Luke Williams. Brimming with confidence, he sent down a delivery, and as soon as he finished, he turned around and celebrated with a cheeky gesture, making everyone around him smile. The young fan’s passion and enthusiasm were undeniable. Coach Luke, impressed by Bhavya’s energy, took a moment to praise his bowling skills and encouraged him to continue supporting RCB. The little boy, overwhelmed with happiness, couldn’t contain himself as he declared, “Today is the best day of my life!,”

While Bhavya’s special day left a lasting impact, RCB are now focused on keeping their winning streak alive as they gear up for a high-stakes encounter against Mumbai Indians (MI) on February 21. With momentum on their side, the defending champions will look to continue their dominant run in WPL 2025.
