Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declared a cash reward of INR 58 crore for India after their triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The big reward is a gesture of appreciation for the efforts of the players, support staff, coaching personnel, and members of the men’s selection committee.
A shower of riches: Breaking down the bounty
The BCCI’s prize is three times the official prize money given to the team by the ICC. While the ICC gave a cash award of around INR 19.45 crore ($2.24 million), the BCCI presented the team with INR 58 crore as a reward for their exceptional performance.
India’s triumphant path: Rohit Sharma’s stellar leadership
India, led by captain Rohit Sharma, had an unbeaten run throughout the tournament, winning four matches consecutively up to the final. They started their campaign with a six-wicket win over Bangladesh and then a similar six-wicket victory against Pakistan. India went on to win against New Zealand with a 44-run margin and then beat Australia by four wickets in the semi-final. India beat New Zealand by four wickets in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 9. India contained New Zealand to 251 for 7 and then easily chased the score with an over left, Rohit Sharma scoring 76, Shreyas Iyer 48, Axar Patel 29, and KL Rahul 34 not out.

BCCI President Roger Binny was proud of the team’s accomplishment, citing that winning two ICC titles in a row is an incredible feat that acknowledges the team’s hard work and superiority on the international platform. He also mentioned that India had won its second ICC trophy in 2025 after the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup, pointing to the depth of the cricketing system in India.
“Securing consecutive ICC titles is a remarkable achievement, and this honour recognises Team India’s commitment and outstanding international performances. The monetary reward acknowledges the effort put in by every individual behind the scenes. This is our second ICC trophy in 2025, following our success at the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup, showcasing the robust cricketing infrastructure in our country,” Binny stated in BCCI’s press release.
BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia lauded the players and support staff, highlighting that their success in international cricket is a testament to years of hard work and careful planning. He further noted that the triumph reaffirms India’s status as the world number one white-ball cricket team, expressing faith in the team’s continued triumph.

This victory reaffirms India’s position as the number one white-ball cricket team, and we are confident the team will continue to thrive. BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla stated that the financial reward acknowledges the superior performances of the team during the tournament, motivating budding cricketers from all over the country.
“This monetary reward honours the exceptional performances displayed by the team throughout the tournament. The players demonstrated remarkable composure in high-pressure situations, and their achievement serves as inspiration for aspiring cricketers across the nation. This triumph reaffirms that Indian cricket is built on a strong foundation of talent, resilience, and a champion’s mindset,” Shukla said.
