Cricket South Africa (CSA) has officially announced the Proteas Women’s contracted squad for the 2025/26 season, a defining moment in the team’s build-up to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India. The team will be led by captain Laura Wolvaardt and head coach Mandla Mashimbyi and features a mix of experience and promising young talent, positioning itself for a potentially historic year.

Key additions and omissions

The standout addition to the team is 23-year-old all-rounder Annerie Dercksen, who has received her first central contract. Dercksen’s star turn in 2024, capped by making her ODI and Test debut, was marked by her receiving the ICC Emerging Women’s Player of the Year award. The addition speaks to CSA’s intention to develop the next generation and recognize outstanding performance.

Conversely, Delmi Tucker and Lara Goodall were excluded from the 15-player squad. Tucker, an all-rounder, and Goodall, a batter, were members of the previous season’s team but failed to make the team this time.
