The IPL 2025 game between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) took a surprising twist when MI captain Hardik Pandya and GT spinner Sai Kishore got into a heated argument on the field.

This all happened in the 15th over of MI’s innings, as the match got intense at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Kishore threw a dot ball to Pandya, who blocked it. Then Kishore stared at him hard. This made Pandya angry, and he responded back using cuss words. Both players started staring at each other before returning back to their original positions.

Sai Kishore’s post-match statement

After the game, Kishore talked to commentator Ian Bishop about the incident. He played it down saying it’s just part of cricket’s competitive nature. “He’s (Pandya) a good friend of mine. Inside the field, it should be like that. Inside the field, anybody is an opponent, but we don’t take things personally. We are good competitors, that’s how I think the game should be,” Kishore said. He pointed out that while players are rivals during the game, they don’t hold grudges off the field.

Pandya shared the same feelings after the game showing friendship with Kishore as they shook hands. Both players acted like pros by working out their issues in a friendly way once the match ended. This made fans feel better knowing that the argument was just a quick burst of anger during the intense competition.

Gujarat Titans beat Mumbai Indians

The fight made news, but it didn’t take away from Gujarat Titans’ strong game. GT batted first and scored 196/8, thanks to Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan. Buttler hit boundaries while Sudharsan stayed calm setting a tough goal for MI.

Mumbai Indians found it hard to reach the target as GT bowled well. Pandya scored 11 runs from 17 balls before getting out to Kagiso Rabada, and MI’s middle order-batters couldn’t catch up to the start provided by the top-order. Prasidh Krishna bowled exceptionally well for GT taking two key wickets that slowed MI’s chase. MI ended up with 160 for six wickets in their 20 overs, eventually losing by 36 runs.
