The Champions Trophy 2025 has entered its most interesting phase with the four semi-finalists finally knowing who they are going to face. India are set to clash against Australia in the 1st semi-final of the tournament in a highly anticipated match which will see the two rivals trying to outperform the other.

Amidst growing speculation between the kind of contest these two sides are expected to give the other, Michael Vaughan has picked his favourite to win the prestigious ICC tournament.

Michael Vaughan hints at the team capable of winning the Champions Trophy

After India’s triumphant win against New Zealand in their final group stage contest, former England skipper Vaughan acknowledged the kind of challenge India poses going ahead in this tournament. Without pointing out directly, he signalled that Australia could be favourites to win the Champions Trophy this time around given they beat India in the semi-finals.

“Whoever beats India wins .. Simple .. I think it’s only the Aussies who could get them .. #ChampionsTrophy2025 but I very much doubt it on the Dubai pitch,” Vaughan said on his latest social media post highlighting the kind of domination India has shown in the tournament.

India’s journey in the Champions Trophy 2025

The Indian team has dominated their group stage matches so far. India started its campaign against Bangladesh where they were triumphant by 6 wickets. Their next group stage match was against Pakistan where the Indian team dominated the course of the match and were triumphant by 6 wickets with 45 balls to spare.

The match against the Black Caps was their most formidable challenge in the group stage so far. A win against New Zealand with remarkable performance from Shreyas Iyer with the bat and Varun Chakravarthy with the bowl has added to the team’s growing stature as favourites of the tournament.
