Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) showcased their dominance in the Women’s Premier League 2025 with a resounding nine-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Delhi’s bowlers put up an impressive show before their batters made light work of the chase, led by a blistering knock from Shafali Verma.

Ellyse Perry anchors RCB to a competitive total

Batting first, RCB-W posted 147/5 in 20 overs, with Ellyse Perry playing a crucial innings of 60 off 47 balls, including three fours and three sixes. The top order struggled as skipper Smriti Mandhana (8 off 7) and Danielle Wyatt (21 off 18) failed to convert their starts. Raghvi Anand Singh Bist contributed 33 off 32, adding stability to the innings. However, the finishing push was missing, as RCB-W lost quick wickets in the final overs.

For Delhi, Shikha Pandey (2/24) and NR-Shree Charani (2/28) were the standout bowlers, while Marizanne Kapp kept things tight with her 1/18 in 4 overs. Despite some expensive spells from other bowlers, DC-W managed to restrict RCB-W below the 150-run mark.

Shafali Verma and Jess Jonassen lead the chase in style

In reply, Delhi Capitals Women chased down the target in just 15.3 overs, losing only one wicket. While Meg Lanning (2 off 12) fell early to Renuka Thakur (1/28), Shafali Verma took charge with a breathtaking 80 off 43 balls, hammering eight fours and four sixes. She found an able partner in Jess Jonassen, who played a fluent 61 off 38 balls, striking nine fours and one six. The duo stitched together an unbeaten 137-run stand, dismantling the RCB-W bowling attack.

RCB-W bowlers had no answers to the onslaught, with Kim Garth (0/25), Ellyse Perry (0/24), and Georgia Wareham (0/21) struggling to contain the flow of runs.

With this dominant nine-wicket victory, Delhi Capitals Women not only secured two crucial points but also boosted their net run rate. Shafali Verma’s explosive innings was the highlight of the match, and DC-W will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming games. On the other hand, RCB-W will need to reassess their bowling attack and find ways to finish stronger with the bat in future matches.
