As the countdown to IPL 2025 begins, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has shared his predictions for the tournament’s top individual honors—the Orange Cap and the Purple Cap. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Jaffer named Sai Sudharsan and Arshdeep Singh as his frontrunners for the prestigious awards.
“IPL is almost here. Drop your orange cap, purple cap predictions below. I’m leaning towards Sai Sudharsan and Arshdeep,” Jaffer wrote on X.

For the uninitiated, the Orange Cap is awarded to the leading run-scorer of the season, while the Purple Cap is given to the highest wicket-taker. These honors recognize the most dominant performers with the bat and ball in each IPL season.

Performances of the two stars in IPL 2024
Both Sudharsan and Arshdeep had impressive outings in the IPL 2024 season, making them strong contenders for these awards in 2025.
🔹 Sai Sudharsan (Gujarat Titans)
The left-handed batter had a remarkable season with Gujarat Titans, scoring 527 runs in 12 innings at a stellar average of 47.91. His strike rate of 141.29 further highlighted his ability to accelerate when needed. Sudharsan emerged as GT’s highest run-scorer and finished sixth overall in the tournament’s run charts.
🔹 Arshdeep Singh (Punjab Kings)
Punjab Kings’ ace pacer Arshdeep played 14 matches last season, picking up 19 wickets at an average of 26.58. While he was among the leading wicket-takers, his economy rate of 10.03 remained a concern, making him one of the most expensive bowlers in the tournament.
With IPL 2025 around the corner, fans will be eager to see if Jaffer’s predictions come true or if new stars rise to the occasion.
