Deandra Dottin made an immediate impact with the ball for Gujarat Giants, delivering a stunning dismissal to send Georgia Voll back for a duck in her debut Women’s Premier League (WPL) game. The UP Warriorz opener, who was expected to provide solidity at the top, had no answer to Dottin’s brilliance as she fell in just the first over of the innings.
Deandra Dottin shatters Georgia Voll’s stumps to dismiss her for a duck on WPL debut
The dramatic moment unfolded on the fifth delivery of the over when Dottin bowled a full-length delivery with an angled seam outside off. The ball swung in late, deceiving Voll completely as she attempted an ambitious drive away from her body. However, she misjudged the movement, leaving a gap between the bat and the pad. The ball snuck through the gap and clattered into the stumps, lighting them up in spectacular fashion.
Dottin’s celebration was just as fiery as her delivery, as she pumped her fists in excitement, giving the Giants the perfect start to the game. Voll, meanwhile, had a disappointing outing on debut, walking back with a dejected expression after scoring 0 off 3 balls. The early breakthrough jolted the Warriorz, who were already struggling at 2/1 before Voll’s wicket made it 2/2. Dottin had earlier removed Kiran Navgire as well, putting immense pressure on the hosts in their first game at home. With momentum on Gujarat’s side, they will now look to capitalize on this fiery start and tighten their grip on the contest.
