In a much-awaited clash at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, Marizanne Kapp delivered a stunning performance that gave Delhi Capitals (DC) a breakthrough in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 final against Mumbai Indians (MI). As the match unfolded, Kapp opened the bowling for Delhi Capitals, who were seeking their first WPL title after finishing as runners-up in the previous two seasons. The atmosphere was electric, with fans eagerly anticipating a clash between two formidable teams: the Capitals, led by Meg Lanning, and the defending champions, Mumbai Indians, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur.

Kapp’s moment of brilliance came during the third over of the innings. After a cautious start from Matthews, who had been in exceptional form throughout the tournament, Kapp bowled a delivery that pitched on a good length and swung late, leaving Matthews no chance. The ball crashed into leg stump off the inside edge, sending shockwaves through the Mumbai camp as they lost their first wicket for just 5 runs.

This wicket was crucial, as Matthews had been a key player for MI, contributing significantly with the bat in the last couple of games. But in the final, she got out after scoring only 3 runs off 10 balls.
