Cricket Australia has officially unveiled the squad for the 2025 Lanning vs Perry series, a pivotal event in the country’s cricket calendar. This series is designed to nurture and showcase the talents of emerging young cricketers, providing them with a platform to compete against their peers and potentially earn spots in national teams.
Background of the series
The Lanning vs Perry Series is named after two of Australia’s cricketing icons: Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry. Both players have been instrumental in elevating women’s cricket globally, with numerous achievements in international competitions. The series serves as a tribute to their contributions and aims to inspire the next generation of cricketers.
Squads announcement
Cricket Australia’s Youth Selection Panel (YSP) has carefully selected players to participate in next month’s Under-19 Lanning vs Perry Series at the National Cricket Campus in Brisbane. The squad was selected by the YSP in collaboration with State and Territory Associations, with players nominated based on their recent performances.
“The Lanning vs. Perry series has become an integral part of an extensive player pathway for the best young female cricketers across Australia,” said Sonya Thompson, Cricket Australia’s Head of National Development, in her official statement.
“It’s an exciting period coming up for this age group as we begin a new cycle towards the 2027 Women’s U19 T20 World Cup,” she added.
