When one talks about the world’s toughest leagues, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, undoubtedly tops the list. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), two of the most consistent teams in the league, have left an indelible mark. CSK, a five-time champion, has made an impressive 10 final appearances so far. Meanwhile, the 2016 title winners SRH have consistently qualified for the playoffs over the years. Although, both teams have had a lacklustre season so far, they still boast some promising players who have represented both franchises in the IPL.

1) Vijay Shankar
Vijay Shankar tops the list, the all-rounder rejoined his first franchise, CSK, in 2025. The 34-year-old Shankar made his IPL debut in 2014 and since played for various franchises, including Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2019-21. With 78 matches under his belt, Shankar has compiled 1233 runs at a strike rate of nearly 130. He’s also taken 9 wickets in the league. Shankar’s most notable IPL innings was his 63 runs not out against Gujrat Lions (GT) in 2017.
2) Rahul Tripathi
Rahul, a 34-year-old right-hander, made his IPL debut in 2017 with Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS). In 2025, he’s wearing the CSK jersey, having spent the previous two years (2023-24) with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Renowned for his elegant strokeplay in the middle overs, Rahul has enjoyed a promising IPL career so far. In 100 matches, he’s scored 2291 runs at an impressive strike rate of 138. Rahul has also made his mark on the international stage, making his debut against Sri Lanka in January 2023.

3) Khaleel Ahmed
Khaleel Ahmed, a pace spearhead for CSK this season, has brought his A-game after a fruitful stint with SRH from 2018-21. The left-arm pacer is currently in the running for the prestigious Purple Cap, a testament to his impressive form. In just 8 matches, Ahmed has claimed 11 wickets, showcasing his ability to trouble batsmen with his sharp swing and accurate line and length in the powerplay. The 27-year-old has undoubtedly made a statement this season, and CSK will be keen to build on his momentum in the years to come.
4. Deepak Hooda
Next up is the promising Deepak Hooda, a talented player from Haryana. Hooda launched his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2015 and played for several franchises, including a stint with SRH (2016-19). Currently with CSK, Hooda was one of the most exciting young guns in the IPL ,earlier this decade, earning him an international call-up in 2022. He made a memorable impact, smashing a power-packed century against Ireland that year. However, Hooda’s form took a hit in subsequent years, with a combined tally of just 229 runs at an average of around 13 in 2023 and 2024. Unfortunately, this season hasn’t brought much change, with Hooda struggling to find his footing with consistently low scores.
5. Shreyas Gopal
Shreyas Gopal’s IPL journey began in 2014 with Mumbai Indians (MI), where he showcased his crafty leg-spin skills. He later played for various teams, including a stint with SRH in 2022. In 49 matches, Gopal has claimed 49 wickets at an economical rate of 8.11. Now with CSK, he is yet to make his debut this year. Although, his IPL appearances have been limited in recent years, his experience and skillset make him a potential dark horse in the league.
