Despite their position at the bottom of the table, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) held their nerve on Monday to secure a 5-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 30 of the IPL 2025 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. This win marks a significant turnaround for the five-time champions.

MS Dhoni’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss was well-supported by his CSK bowlers, who put in a disciplined performance to restrict LSG to 166/7.

Despite a shaky start for Lucknow, skipper Rishabh Pant played a crucial innings of 63, supported by contributions from Mitchell Marsh and late cameos from Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad. Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana picked up two wickets each for CSK, while Anshul Kamboj’s economical spell included the key wicket of Pooran.

Chasing 167 for victory, CSK openers Shaik Rasheed and Rachin Ravindra provided a quickfire start. Although LSG managed to pick up wickets, Shivam Dube’s composed innings kept CSK on track. The match was sealed by a vintage late onslaught from Dhoni, who scored an unbeaten 26 off just 11 balls. Ravi Bishnoi was the best bowler for LSG with two wickets, but CSK ultimately won by 5 wickets with three balls to spare, with Dhoni being named Player of the Match for his impactful finish.
