In a season already packed with close finishes and high-octane drama, IPL 2025 has now taken a controversial turn involving one of the tournament’s most reputed franchises — Rajasthan Royals. What seemed like a thrilling game of cricket against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has snowballed into a full-blown dispute, drawing attention from the cricketing fraternity and the political corridors of Rajasthan.
Shock and suspicion follow after RR’s narrow loss against LSG
The Royals, while chasing a target of 181, were in complete control for the majority of the game but somehow managed to lose the contest by just 2 runs — a result that raised many eyebrows. Jaydeep Bihani, convener of the Rajasthan Cricket Association’s (RCA) ad hoc committee, publicly questioned the outcome of the game and even went as far as implying potential match-fixing or deliberate tampering.
Rajasthan Royals issue sharp rebuttal
In response, the Rajasthan Royals have come out all guns blazing, firmly denying the accusations and expressing their outrage at the claims. The franchise issued a formal statement rejecting the remarks made by Bihani and termed them as “false, baseless, and without any evidence.”
The Royals further escalated the matter by filing a complaint with the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, the State Sports Minister, and the Sports Secretary. The management has demanded that strict and immediate action be taken against Bihani for what they call an irresponsible and damaging allegation.
“We reject all allegations made by the convener of the ad hoc committee. Such public statements are not only misleading but have caused serious damage to the reputation and credibility of Rajasthan Royals, Royal Multi Sport Private Limited (RMPL), the Rajasthan Sports Council, and the BCCI. They also tarnish the integrity of cricket,” said Royals in an official statement.

The franchise stressed the importance of protecting the sanctity of the sport and condemned any unsubstantiated remarks that question a team’s commitment or suggest foul play without proper investigation or proof.
As of now, there has been no official word from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) or the RCA regarding the incident. The controversy, however, has cast a shadow over what was otherwise an entertaining clash between two competitive sides.
With IPL 2025 entering its crucial phase, all eyes will be on how the governing bodies handle the matter and whether any disciplinary action is taken against those involved in making public accusations without verified backing.
