In a dramatic display of fast bowling excellence, Jofra Archer delivered a spectacular ball to dismiss Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill during the 23rd match of IPL 2025 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The high-stakes encounter between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals witnessed an early breakthrough for the visitors as Archer continued his dominance over Gill, reinforcing his reputation as one of the premier fast bowlers in the tournament. The dismissal came early in the Gujarat innings after Rajasthan won the toss and elected to field first, setting the tone for what promises to be an electrifying contest.
Archer shatters Gill’s stumps with an inswinger
The anticipated battle between these two stars came to fruition early in Gujarat’s innings. With the scoreboard reading 14/0 in the third over, Archer steamed in to face Gill, who had managed just 2 runs from his first 3 deliveries. What followed was a demonstration of fast bowling at its finest – a delivery that will feature in highlight reels for years to come.
Bowling the first ball of his second over (the third of the innings), Archer delivered a fullish-length ball around the fifth stump at a blistering pace of 147 kmph. Gill attempted to drive the ball but was caught playing away from his body, leaving a significant gap between bat and pad. The delivery, showcasing Archer’s exceptional skill, shaped back in after pitching and crashed into the off stump even as Gill’s bat came down too late for the shot. The ball was simply too quick for the GT captain to handle, leaving him looking stunned as his stumps were spectacularly uprooted. Archer’s celebration was one of controlled excitement, acknowledging the quality of the delivery that had just dismissed one of IPL’s premier batsmen. Gill departed for just 2 runs off 3 balls at a strike rate of 66.66, continuing his struggle against his nemesis.

Early advantage to Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans
The early dismissal of Gill dealt a major blow to Titans’ hopes of setting a competitive total. Sai Sudharsan, however, anchored the innings confidently, reaching his fifty off just 32 balls with classy strokes. He found solid support from Jos Buttler, and together they steadied the ship with a crucial 80-run partnership. Their stand brought much-needed momentum back to Gujarat after the initial hiccup. But just when the Titans looked set to dominate, Rajasthan struck back at a critical moment. Maheesh Theekshana broke the partnership by removing Buttler for 36 with a clever delivery. The wicket shifted the balance of the game once again, halting Gujarat’s recovery. At the 10-over mark, GT stood at 94/2, with Sudharsan continuing to hold the innings together.
