Shimron Hetmyer’s fearless dive seals Washington Sundar’s dismissal in a tense moment
At 18.4 overs, Sandeep bowled a clever slower short ball wide outside off, forcing Sundar into an ambitious lofted stroke. Mistiming the shot completely, Sundar got it off the bottom part of the bat, sending the ball looping high toward the off-side circle. Hetmyer, stationed at deep extra cover, charged in at full speed, locking eyes on the falling ball. At the same time, Yudhvir Singh raced back from wide mid-off, creating a nerve-wracking scenario.
Despite the risk of a collision, Hetmyer remained calm and focused purely on the ball. Timing his dive perfectly, Hetmyer threw himself forward with full commitment and caught the ball inches from the turf. Yudhvir did well to pull back at the last moment, avoiding disaster and letting Hetmyer complete the catch cleanly. The stadium erupted as Hetmyer’s athleticism turned what looked like a tricky chance into a moment of brilliance. Sundar walked back for a quickfire 13 (8), his innings ending with just one six. Thanks to Hetmyer’s outstanding effort, Sandeep Sharma got a crucial breakthrough at a key match stage.

Gujarat Titans set massive target for Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur
In a high-scoring clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Gujarat posted an imposing 209/4 after being asked to bat first. Shubman Gill led from the front with a scintillating 84 off just 50 balls, supported well by Sai Sudharsan’s 39 and Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 50. Despite a few late wickets, GT maintained a strong scoring rate, hammering boundaries consistently across the innings. The Rajasthan bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, with Maheesh Theekshana being the most successful, picking up 2 wickets for 35 runs. With a massive target of 210 to chase, the required run rate has already climbed over 10 after just two balls. GT, having momentum on their side, will be aiming to strike early and apply pressure. Meanwhile, RR will look to rely on the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Rana and Riyan Parag to anchor their response.
