Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins found himself at the centre of widespread speculation during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025) after his wife, Becky Boston, shared an Instagram story that appeared to hint the couple was leaving India.
Becky Boston’s Instagram post fuels Pat Cummins’ IPL 2025 exit
The Instagram story on Friday (April 18), which featured both Becky and Cummins at an airport, quickly ignited speculation about the Australian pacer’s potential mid-season departure from the IPL 2025. Given the significance of Cummins’ leadership role with SRH and the team’s disappointing performance so far, the post stirred confusion among cricket followers, many of whom began to wonder whether the SRH skipper was heading back home amidst his team’s turbulent campaign. Becky’s story, captioned to suggest her departure from India, went viral on social media. The timing of the post, coinciding with SRH’s prolonged slump – added fuel to the fire, leading many to assume Cummins was also exiting the tournament.

However, with no matches scheduled for the week and a mentally demanding season unfolding, Pat Cummins and his family opted for a brief getaway to Singapore. Putting the rumours to rest, Becky later posted another story on Saturday (April 19) featuring Pat and their new born kid ‘Edi’ enjoying a relaxing time at a swimming pool, confirming that the family is simply taking some time off to rejuvenate ahead of the season’s second half.

SRH’s underwhelming performance in IPL 2025 so far
SRH, the runners-up of the previous IPL season, have been unable to replicate their 2024 success in the ongoing 2025 edition. Out of the seven matches played so far, the franchise has secured only two victories—both at their home ground in Hyderabad. With a string of underwhelming performances, SRH currently sits at ninth place on the points table, and their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs are fading fast. After the latest setback against Mumbai Indians, the SRH squad has returned home to Hyderabad, where they will once again take on Mumbai, this time at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday (April 23). With a week-long break before the rematch, the team will look to regroup, recalibrate, and regain lost confidence in what has been a mentally demanding campaign.
