The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially revealed the panel of match officials for the landmark 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), also branded as HBL PSL X. The tournament will take place from April 11 to May 18, with 34 matches scheduled across Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi.

This year’s lineup brings together a high-profile mix of international veterans and top domestic talent, reflecting PCB’s commitment to maintaining world-class officiating standards throughout the tournament.

Umpiring panel

The 13-member umpiring panel features a strong international presence with three ICC Elite Panel umpires:

  • Ahsan Raza (Pakistan)
  • Paul Reiffel (Australia)
  • Kumar Dharmasena (Sri Lanka)

They will be joined by celebrated Pakistani officials from the PCB International Panel, including:

  • Aleem Dar – set to officiate in his final PSL season
  • Asif Yaqoob
  • Faisal Khan Afridi
  • Rashid Riaz Waqar

In addition, four prominent umpires from the PCB Elite Panel will be involved:

  • Abdul Moqeet
  • Nasir Hussain
  • Tariq Rasheed
  • Zulfiqar Jan

Match referees

The match referees’ panel is led by renowned Sri Lankan officials from the ICC Elite Panel:

  • Ranjan Madugalle
  • Roshan Mahanama

They will oversee matches alongside experienced domestic referees:

  • Ali Naqvi
  • Muhammad Javed Malik
  • Iftikhar Ahmed
  • Iqbal Sheikh
  • Nadeem Arshad

Appointments for the playoffs and final will be confirmed later in the tournament.

Technological upgrades: MOT system to make its debut

In a historic first, PSL 2025 will feature the full rollout of the Match Officials’ Technology (MOT) system, a suite of tech tools designed to modernize officiating and enhance fan engagement.

Key features of the MOT system include:

  • Auto no-ball detection using ultra-motion cameras
  • Live audio links between on-field and third umpires
  • Visible timers for innings breaks and DRS countdowns during broadcasts
  • Ball-by-ball over-rate tracking and multi-angle instant replays
  • Handheld tablets for real-time data access and DRS input by umpires

The integration of MOT underscores PCB’s vision to elevate the PSL to global standards by embracing innovation and transparency.
