Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has been a prominent figure in the headlines recently, not just for his cricketing prowess but also for developments in his personal life. Following his divorce from choreographer Dhanashree Verma, Chahal’s appearances with RJ Mahvash, a popular social media personality and radio jockey, have sparked rumours of a budding romance. Their joint appearance at the ICC Champions Trophy final fuelled speculation, with fans and media alike eager to uncover the truth behind their camaraderie. However, Mahvash has now addressed these rumours head-on.
RJ Mahvash sets the record straight
During a recent podcast interview on Yuvaa’s YouTube channel, Mahvash candidly shared her thoughts on relationships, marriage, and her current relationship status. She firmly stated, “I am very much single, and I don’t understand the concept of marriage in today’s time.” This declaration comes amidst the swirling rumours linking her to Chahal.
Mahvash elaborated on her views about modern relationships, emphasizing that she does not believe in casual dating. “I am someone who would date only when I have to marry. I don’t go on casual dates because I will only date someone I want to get married to, I am that person, like in the film Dhoom, who sees his wife and kids behind the bike,” Mahvash added, drawing a playful analogy from Bollywood.
Mahvash’s past that shaped her perspective
In an intriguing revelation during the podcast, Mahvash shared details about her past engagement. She disclosed that she was engaged at the young age of 19 but decided to call it off at 21. Growing up in a small town like Aligarh, Mahvash explained that societal conditioning often revolved around finding a husband and settling down early. However, her experience taught her to prioritize her own aspirations and clarity about what she wants from life.
“I was engaged at 19 and called it off at 21. Growing up in Aligarh, our conditioning was to find a good husband and get married—that used to be our goal,” she said.
Reflecting on this phase of her life, Mahvash revealed how societal pressure often places blame on women when relationships fail. “Whether it’s a divorce or breakup, it’s women who always bear the blame,” Mahvash bluntly remarked.

The rumours of Yuzvendra Chahal and Mahvash
Speculation about Mahvash’s relationship with Chahal gained traction after their Champions Trophy appearance together. Videos and photos of them enjoying the match circulated widely online, leading fans to assume there might be more than friendship between the two. However, Mahvash has been vocal about dismissing these rumours as baseless.
In December 2024, similar rumours had emerged when Mahvash was spotted celebrating Christmas with Chahal amid news of his separation from Dhanashree Verma. At the time, Mahvash had slammed such assumptions publicly: “If you get seen with a person of the opposite gender, does that mean you are dating them? I’m sorry—what year is this?” Her frustration with unwarranted attention resurfaced after their Champions Trophy appearance.
Mahvash’s statements underline her commitment to personal growth and career aspirations over romantic entanglements. She emphasized that she has put marriage-related decisions on hold until she feels ready to embrace them fully. “Shaadi ka concept samajh nahi aa raha hai (I don’t understand the concept of marriage), so I have put a halt to it,” Mahvash said.
Mahvash also shared what she looks for in an ideal partner—humour being her top priority. “I can sacrifice on looks; I can teach him romance and make him filmy and hopelessly romantic—but you can’t make someone funny,” she concluded lightheartedly.
