Match 34 of the IPL 2025 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium promised fireworks—and it delivered. With rain reducing the game to 14 overs a side, both teams had to adapt quickly, and every ball counted. RCB, sent in to bat first, crumbled under pressure and posted a modest 95/9, courtesy of a heroic knock by Tim David, who almost single-handedly carried his team to a competitive total.
The innings started on a sour note for Bengaluru as they lost Phil Salt and Virat Kohli cheaply. The middle order faltered too, with big names like Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, and Krunal Pandya failing to leave a mark. Wickets kept tumbling, and RCB found themselves 63/9 in the 12th over. Amidst the ruins stood David, undeterred and dangerous.
Tim David hoicks Harpreet Brar for 3 consecutive sixes
When David faced Harpreet Brar in the final over of the innings, RCB was limping at 80/9. What followed was a masterclass in counter-attack. With three balls, David shifted momentum and gave RCB a glimmer of hope.
First six
Brar pitched it full outside off, and David finally got hold of one. With a clean swing of the bat, he launched the ball over long-off. The ball pinged the roof, lifting the spirits in the dugout and the crowd in the stands. The message was clear: David wasn’t done yet.
Second six
Brar tried to mix it up by going short and outside leg, but David anticipated it perfectly. He cleared his front leg and swatted the ball deep over square leg. It soared high and long, a towering six that brought the crowd to its feet. Back-to-back sixes and the pressure suddenly flipped.
Third six
Trying to finish strong, Brar bowled full and wide, but it was a no-ball—and David made sure it was punished. A fierce slash over extra cover sent the ball flat and hard into the crowd. Three consecutive sixes in three deliveries, with the third one off a no-ball—David had turned the final over into a spectacle.
His unbeaten 50 off just 26 balls (5 fours, 3 sixes) dragged RCB to 95, a total that seemed improbable just minutes earlier.

PBKS too stumble in the chase
In reply, PBKS started steadily. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh looked composed, taking the score to 22 in under 3 overs before Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Prabhsimran and Josh Hazzlewood striking Arya and Shreyas Iyer. With just 43 runs needed from 34 balls, PBKS seem in control, but the pitch has shown its tricks, and RCB’s bowlers aren’t out of the game yet.
