In a landmark development for women’s cricket, the Zimbabwe Women’s national team is all set to tour the United States of America (USA) for the first time ever.

A major step in Zimbabwe women’s cricket journey

The series will comprise three T20 Internationals and two One-Day Internationals, scheduled from April 25 to May 3, 2025, all of which will take place at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. This tour marks a significant milestone in the history of Zimbabwe Women’s cricket. It is their first bilateral tour to the USA, and also a crucial opportunity to showcase their growing potential on the global stage. The team has been steadily improving over the years, and this tour offers them valuable international exposure. The initiative also highlights the USA’s increasing commitment to women’s cricket, aiming to boost development ahead of future ICC tournaments.

Series format and schedule against the USA

The tour kicks off with the T20I series and concludes with two ODIs. Here is the complete match schedule:

  • 1st T20I – April 25, Friday
  • 2nd T20I – April 27, Sunday
  • 3rd T20I – April 29, Tuesday
  • 1st ODI – May 1, Thursday
  • 2nd ODI – May 3, Saturday

All matches will be hosted at the Grand Prairie Stadium, one of the USA’s premier cricket venues and a symbol of the country’s rising cricket ambitions. This tour also reignites the competitive spirit between the two teams. In October 2024, Zimbabwe hosted the USA Women’s team in a gripping five-match ODI series in Harare. While Zimbabwe won the series 3-2, the tightly fought contests proved that both teams are on a similar growth curve. This upcoming tour is expected to be equally competitive, adding to what is fast becoming an exciting developing rivalry in women’s international cricket.
