Bollywood actress and self-proclaimed Mumbai Indians (MI) superfan Sonal Chauhan was left spellbound by Rohit Sharma’s scintillating performance in the IPL 2025 Eliminator against Gujarat Titans (GT). The match, held at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, saw MI opener deliver a vintage masterclass, scoring 81 runs off just 50 balls to propel his team into Qualifier 2.

Sonal Chauhan impressed by Rohit Sharma’s batting against GT

Sonal Chauhan, who has become a familiar face in the MI stands this season, took to social media during the match to express her admiration for Rohit’s batting heroics. Reacting to a particularly explosive over where the right-handed batter unleashed a six and two fours against left-arm spinner Sai Kishore, Chauhan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Beautyyyyy,” capturing the excitement of millions of MI fans.

Her enthusiasm mirrored the mood among Mumbai supporters, who watched Rohit  anchor the innings with poise and aggression after MI opted to bat first.

The veteran opener, partnering with Jonny Bairstow, gave Mumbai a flying start, putting together an 84-run partnership in just 44 deliveries. Rohit’s ability to switch gears was on full display, especially in the powerplay where he capitalized on two dropped catches to punish the Gujarat bowlers.

As Rohit completed two historic milestones en route to his 81 — 7000 IPL runs and 300 sixes, Sonal wrote: “Congratulations Hitman “@ImRo45 #goat.”

“Rohit Sharma is one of a kind”: Sonal Chauhan

Chauhan’s admiration for Rohit is well-documented. In a recent interview to an Entertainment portal, she described watching him bat as “like watching art—he’s so effortless and focused. He’s not trying to be cool, he just is.” The actress, who shot to fame with the film Jannat, has attended several MI matches this season, often going viral for her passionate support. “I’ve always said Rohit Sharma is one of a kind. There are things he can do on the field that no one else can,” Chauhan remarked, emphasizing her long-standing fandom for both the player and the franchise.

Rohit ’s knock proved decisive as Mumbai Indians posted a daunting 228/5 in their 20 overs. Gujarat Titans, despite valiant efforts from Sai Sudharsan (80) and Washington Sundar (48), fell 20 runs short, bowing out of the tournament.

Rohit was rightfully named Player of the Match, later admitting he would have liked to score more half-centuries this season but was proud of the team’s collective effort in a must-win game.
