In a fresh chapter of England’s white-ball journey, the ECB has announced its squads for the upcoming home series against the West Indies, featuring three One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals. All matches will be played in late May and early June, with the series opener slated for May 29 at Edgbaston.
Harry Brook takes the helm in white-ball charge
Yorkshire’s Harry Brook has been entrusted with the captaincy duties across both formats. The decision signals a shift toward grooming new leaders in the post-World Cup phase, especially with many senior players absent from the squads.
Brook’s leadership will be supported by a balanced mix of youth and experience, as England continues to explore new combinations and invest in emerging talents.
Tom Hartley returns to ODIs, Liam Dawson makes a comeback in the shortest format
One of the standout inclusions in the ODI squad is Lancashire left-arm spinner Tom Hartley. The 25-year-old hasn’t featured in this format since September 2023 but returns following strong domestic performances.
In the T20I setup, 35-year-old Liam Dawson has been recalled after more than two years out of international contention. His consistency with Hampshire in red and white-ball cricket—especially over the last two seasons—has earned him another shot in national colours. The all-rounder last played for England in November 2022 during the ODI series in Australia.

Dynamic batting all-rounder Will Jacks has been selected in both squads, marking his official return to the national fold following a notable stint in IPL 2025. His inclusion adds explosive potential at the top of the order, and his off-spin provides added flexibility.
