Indian cricket fans were buzzing with excitement and nostalgia as Karun Nair made a comeback to the India A squad for the upcoming England tour. The right-handed batter, best known for his historic triple century against England in 2016, had been out of the national radar for quite some time. His inclusion signals a fresh opportunity to prove his form and push for a senior team recall.

Cricket enthusiasts, along with Indian legend Irfan Pathan took to social media to share their support for the comeback kid. Many fans called the selection “well-deserved,” noting his consistent performances in domestic cricket. Some expressed hope that this could be the beginning of a redemption arc for the 33-year-old, who once held the promise of being a mainstay in India’s middle order.

Karun Nair’s strong domestic season

Nair’s return backed by a strong domestic season playing for Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy. Where he scored over 800 runs in the season at an average of around 54, including two centuries and a crucial 122 in the quarter-finals. His calm temperament and ability to anchor the innings under pressure were key factors in Vidarbha’s champion run.

He also made a return to the IPL 2025 in style for Delhi Capitals (DC), where he took every bowler including Jasprit Bumrah for cleaners in a high-octane clash against Mumbai Indians (MI). Nair in his comeback innings scored 89 runs in 40 deliveries, which includes 12 fours and 5 sixes.
