The incident, which unfolded during an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on X (formerly Twitter), has sparked widespread conversation about the challenges women face in male-dominated industries like cricket.

While engaging with fans online, Zinta was confronted with a distasteful question regarding Australia cricketer Glenn Maxwell’s underwhelming IPL 2025 performance. The troll insinuated that Maxwell’s form was suffering because Zinta had not married him-a comment both sexist and absurd. Zinta, however, did not let the remark pass unchallenged. She fired back with a pointed response, questioning whether such a personal and gendered query would ever be directed at a male team owner.
“Would you ask this question to the male team owners of other teams, or is this kind of discrimination reserved only for women? I never realised how difficult it is for women to survive in corporate setups until I entered the world of cricket. I’m sure you asked this out of humour, but I hope you take a moment to actually read your question and reflect on what you’re implying-because if you truly understand it, it’s not pretty,” Zinta wrote on X, highlighting the double standards women often endure in professional environments. Her response resonated widely, with many social media users applauding her for standing up against sexism and using her platform to advocate for respect and equality.
Zinta being a voice for women in cricket’s corporate world
Zinta’s experience is emblematic of the broader struggles women face in sports management and corporate spheres. Despite being a visible and successful team owner since the IPL’s inception in 2008, Zinta has often had to contend with gendered scrutiny that her male counterparts rarely face. “I think I’ve earned my stripes by working very hard for the past 18 years, so please give me the respect I deserve and stop with the gender bias,” she added.

As Punjab Kings continue their strong run in IPL 2025, Zinta praised the strong leadership of PBKS and the duo of Ricky Ponting and Shreyas Iyer.
