Electing to bowl first after winning the toss, RCB were left chasing leather for much of the evening as Ishan Kishan‘s explosive 94 set the tone for a massive first-innings total that proved too steep for Bengaluru.

Ishan Kishan headlines SRH’s batting brilliance

Sunrisers posted a mammoth 231/6 in their 20 overs, thanks to a blistering 48-ball 94 from Kishan. The left-hander was in sublime touch, striking 7 fours and 5 sixes to anchor SRH’s innings after early aggression from Abhishek Sharma (34 off 17) and Travis Head (17 off 10). Kishan’s innings was well supported by cameos from Heinrich Klaasen (24 off 13) and Aniket Verma (26 off 9), while Pat Cummins‘ late blitz (13 off 6) pushed the total well past 230.

RCB’s bowlers struggled to contain the run flow, with only Romario Shepherd making a noticeable impact. The West Indian pacer grabbed 2 wickets in his 2 overs for just 14 runs. The rest of the attack—especially Yash Dayal and Lungi Ngidi—leaked runs heavily, conceding 36 and 51 respectively in their spells.

RCB’s chase derails despite Phil Salt and Virat Kohli’s contribution

Chasing a daunting 232, RCB began positively with Phil Salt and Virat Kohli leading the charge. Salt was particularly aggressive, smashing 62 off just 32 deliveries, including 4 fours and 5 sixes. Kohli, too, played fluently for his 43 off 25 balls, but once the duo departed, RCB’s innings lost momentum rapidly.

Middle-order contributions were limited to Jitesh Sharma’s 24 off 15, while others failed to keep up with the mounting required rate. The collapse began with the dismissal of Mayank Agarwal (11) and Tim David (1), and RCB ultimately folded for 189 in 19.5 overs, falling 42 runs short.

SRH’s bowlers delivered a collective effort to defend the massive total. Skipper Cummins led from the front with 3 wickets for 28 runs, while Eshan Malinga chipped in with 2 wickets. The likes of Harshal Patel, Jaydev Unadkat, and Nitish Kumar Reddy also picked up crucial scalps at regular intervals to halt RCB’s momentum. Kishan was rightfully named Player of the Match for his breathtaking 94 that set the platform for Sunrisers Hyderabad’s win.
