In what has stirred the IPL rumour mill, reports surfaced claiming that Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are considering releasing Rishabh Pant after the conclusion of IPL 2025. The unverified report, which has no official backing, stated that the franchise believes the INR 27 crore price tag for the star wicketkeeper-batter was excessive given his underwhelming performance this season. As the whispers grew louder on social media, fans were left questioning whether Pant’s high-profile switch to LSG would end after just one season.

Rishabh Pant opens up on the rumours regarding his future with LSG

Pant didn’t waste time in addressing the speculation. Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the LSG skipper issued a sharp rebuke of the claims, calling them baseless and misleading.

“I understand fake news gives more traction to content but let’s not build everything around it. Little sense and credible news will help more rather than making fake news with agenda. Thanks, have a good day. Let’s be responsible and sensible with what we put out on social media,” wrote Pant.

While the statement made it clear that he remains committed to LSG, his form on the field has told a different story. Pant has struggled to find rhythm with the bat in IPL 2025, managing just 151 runs from 13 matches. His strike rate of 107 and an average of 13.73 rank among the lowest for a captain this season, raising valid concerns over his impact at the top level.
