Pakistan delivered another commanding performance at the Gaddafi Stadium, defeating Bangladesh by 57 runs in the second T20 International of the Bangladesh tour of Pakistan 2025. This comprehensive victory gives Pakistan an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, following their 37-run win in the first encounter.

Sahibzada Farhan, Hasan Nawaz steer Pakistan to a formidable total

Having won the toss and elected to bat first on a pitch known for favouring batters, Pakistan posted a formidable total of 201/6 in their 20 overs. The innings was powered by exceptional contributions from their top order. Opener Sahibzada Farhan was the star with the bat, striking a magnificent 74 runs off just 41 deliveries, featuring 4 fours and 6 towering sixes. Mohammad Haris provided a quick impetus with 41 runs off 25 balls, while Hasan Nawaz continued the onslaught with a blistering 51 off 26 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes. Towards the end, Agha Salman chipped in with a useful 19 off 12 deliveries to push the total past 200. For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan Sakib were the most successful bowlers, each picking up two wickets.

Bangladesh batters fail to gain momentum

Chasing a daunting target of 202, Bangladesh’s innings never truly gained momentum, ultimately collapsing to 144 all out in 19 overs. Despite a promising start from Tanzid Hasan, who scored 33 off 19 balls with 5 fours and a six, and a late surge from Tanzim Hasan Sakib who blasted 50 runs off 31 balls (1 four, 5 sixes), the middle order failed to build significant partnerships. Key batsmen like Litton Das (6) and Towhid Hridoy (5) couldn’t convert their starts into impactful scores, and wickets fell at regular intervals.

Pakistan’s bowlers displayed a collective effort to restrict Bangladesh. The spin duo of Abrar Ahmed and Shadab Khan were particularly effective, with Abrar picking up 3 wickets for just 19 runs from his four overs, and Shadab claiming 1 wicket for 13 runs. The pace attack also contributed, with Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf, and Haris Rauf each taking a wicket, putting constant pressure on the Bangladeshi batsmen. Even the part-time off-spin of Saim Ayub yielded a wicket, showcasing the depth of Pakistan’s bowling resources.

Player of the Match

Sahibzada Farhan was deservedly named the Player of the Match for his blistering innings, which set the tone for Pakistan’s dominant batting display.

With the series already decided, Pakistan will look to complete a clean sweep in the third and final T20I, scheduled for Sunday, June 1, once again at the Gaddafi Stadium. Bangladesh, meanwhile, will be aiming for a consolation win to salvage some pride before the tour concludes.
