KL Rahul, the stylish right-handed batter from Karnataka, has once again stamped his authority in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with yet another personal achievement. The 33-year-old Delhi Capitals (DC) star continues to be a symbol of consistency in the tournament, delivering dependable performances year after year. On Wednesday (May 21), during a clash against Mumbai Indians (MI), Rahul quietly reached a significant landmark that places him among the league’s most elite batters.
KL Rahul enters record books to attain a special milestone
Rahul became only the third player in IPL history to score 500 or more runs in seven different seasons, joining the elite company of two legendary players. His latest feat came during Delhi Capitals’ run chase of 181 against Mumbai Indians, where his 11-run knock took his total to 504 runs in IPL 2025, making him the first DC player to reach that milestone this season.
- 2018 – 659 runs (Punjab Kings)
- 2019 – 593 runs (Punjab Kings)
- 2020 – 670 runs (Punjab Kings)
- 2021 – 626 runs (Punjab Kings)
- 2022 – 616 runs (Lucknow Super Giants)
- 2024 – 520 runs (Lucknow Super Giants)
- 2025 – 504* runs (Delhi Capitals, ongoing)
Virat Kohli tops the charts
Notably, only two players have been more consistent than Rahul in IPL’s 17-year history:
Virat Kohli: The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) icon remains unmatched with eight 500+ seasons. From his first breakthrough year in 2011 (557 runs) to his dominant 973-run season in 2016, and consistent performances up to 2025, Kohli continues to be the gold standard in IPL batting.
David Warner: The Australian legend also boasts seven such seasons, built during his tenure with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals. Warner was at his peak in 2016 with a staggering 848 runs, and remained a reliable force year after year.
Players with most 500+ run seasons in IPL:
- 8 times – Virat Kohli (RCB)
- 7 times – David Warner (DC/SRH)
- 7 times – KL Rahul (RCB/SRH/PBKS/LSG/DC)
