The world is gearing up for the highly anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025, where two top sides, Australia and South Africa, are set to face off at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. Amid the intense atmosphere of the English summer, rain always looms as a potential threat to the proceedings. However, there are several arrangements in place if rain plays spoilsport. But what happens if the match ends in a draw? Let’s find out.

What will happen if the game ends in a draw or a tie

If the World Test Championship Final ends in a draw or a tie, both teams will be declared joint winners. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has clearly outlined that in the event of no outright result—even after the use of a reserve day—the prestigious WTC Mace will be shared, and the prize money will be split equally between both deserving finalists without dispute. There won’t be any tie-breaker or super over like scenarios, as the limited overs cricket.

The reserve day, scheduled for June 16, will only come into play if weather conditions cause significant loss of play that cannot be recovered in the original five days. It is not an additional day of play, but rather a contingency to ensure maximum overs are bowled across the match duration. Used only when necessary, this day exists to help maintain fairness and protect competitive balance in such crucial encounters.
