In a conversation with Filmygyan, Genelia opened up about how deeply moving it was to watch Virat Kohli lift the trophy after an 18-year wait, especially the emotional gesture he made towards his former teammates. She recalled being touched by Kohli’s tribute to AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, two stalwarts who were instrumental in shaping RCB’s journey but retired without ever winning the title. “It was very special to see Virat win after 18 years and see the camaraderie. The fact that Virat went to De Villiers and Chris Gayle and said, ‘these people fought for 18 years and I mean, these are moments that, as an audience, you watch and think, yeah, we should also feel this in our lives,” According to her, it was a defining reminder of how enduring friendship and perseverance can lead to iconic milestones in life.

While the city was drenched in joy and passion, tragedy struck when a crowd surge during the event turned fatal. What was supposed to be a moment of communal ecstasy turned into horror as 11 people lost their lives and 56 others sustained injuries. The heartbreaking incident cast a sombre shadow over RCB’s biggest moment, reminding everyone of the thin line between celebration and chaos.
